Alternatively Breaking.

Spring break is what many college students fantasize about. They dream about going to Cancun, laying out on the beach, hooking up with good looking strangers, and soaking up the sun while partying with friends. That however, is not how I plan spending my week off in March. I mean, I would love to be doing that, but instead I chose to do the Alternative Spring Break program which is run through Keene State College. ASB is an organization that sends out multiple groups of students who travel all over the United States to do community service during their week off from school. The members will be doing a number of tasks like working with underprivileged children, working at soup kitchens, rebuilding communities, or cleaning up the environment.

The program that I chose to participate in was the Everglades trip. It was my first choice so I am pumped! Apparently we will be staying in this wicked cool hostel. I also heard a rumor that we get to play with monkeys. It is going to be such a great time. All I have to watch out for are those pesky alligators!

The deadline is already up and all the teams have been selected this year, but you should definitely consider going on the trip yourself next year. Not only will you be traveling to a new location, but you will also be helping others in need. You will feel great about yourself and have a fun time. The best part is that you get to make lifelong friends and experience new things that you might never get the opportunity to do so. Think about it!
